The Uprising, 1848, Honoré Daumier
Details
The painting by French realist Honoré Daumier depicts a scene of revolutionary resistance, a crowd of protestors seemingly led by the man in white. It is probable that the scene is a depiction of the 1848 Revolution in Paris, as Daumier was residing in the capital during the violent clashes of the June popular uprising (lasting from 23 to 26 June).
