When we think about the riots being opposed by the authorities through force in a general sense, objects like these are useful for grounding us in reality by reminding of the material realities such force.

While this bolt is not certain to have been used to imprison any Rebecca rioters, this was in use at around the time of the Riots and there are several cases of Rebecca Rioters being imprisoned in gaols like Carmarthen jail. As such, even if this is not an exact article, it can still indicate to us the kinds of technologies which were used to secure apprehended Rebeccaites.
